2024 Year in Review


In 2024, Project 2013B witnessed remarkable growth and success. Starting the year with 42,964 registered serial numbers, the project closed out December with a staggering 67,908 serial numbers—an impressive 58% increase. This growth was not limited to serial numbers alone, as the number of participants submitting serial numbers almost doubled, soaring from 8,309 to 16,429, marking a 97.7% surge. 

Unlike a certain copycat website that emerged last summer, Project 2013B prides itself on having comprehensive contact information for every serial number in its robust database, ensuring reliability and accuracy. This meticulous approach underscores the project's commitment to maintaining a high standard of quality, setting it apart from others.

Rare Matched Pair 05260338: Exclusive Auction Ending December 15th - Bid Now!

Rare Matched Pair 05260338: Exclusive Auction Ending December 15th - Bid Now!
Matched Pair up for auction.  Going... Going...

At the time of writing, this pair's top bid was a mere $825. Where it will end up is up in the air when it comes to GreatCollections (and most auction houses I find). There was a recent auction where there were NO BIDS in the last 24 hours, so if that becomes the case for this particular pair, in my opinion, someone would get an utter steal!

There was also an auction where a much lower graded pair sold for $500 on GreatCollections on December 2nd, 2023. On December 17th, only 15 days later, the same exact pair was sold on eBay for $5,900! Someone REALLY lucked out in that case, as there have been matched pairs that had higher grades and which sold for LESS than $5,900.  They definitely "had a horseshoe up their arse" on both days.

Just for fun I took the auction history data for matched pairs that were initially discovered by Project 2013B and later sold at auction.  The following are what some of the results were, for either the same or better grades:

This pair was initially confirmed way back on December 21, 2023 as announced here.  The pair is consigned by Project 2013B on behalf of the two co-owners, otherwise I would bid myself! The one take-away from the table above is that prices for these matched pairs is VOLATILE. Perhaps as more matched pairs go to auction, and more collectors know about this production error, prices will find some sort of equilibrium.  Or maybe not! Prices are always suprising me to both the upside and the downside.
