[SOLD] Matched Pair sells for $3360.00

Pair SN 08485592 Sold for $3360.00

The final price of $3360 includes the 20% Buyer's Premium that the auction house charges to the buyer.  On the seller's side, the auction house charges them 10%.  The auction segment lasted 20 seconds with the online bid prior to the live auction holding.

You can see the rivetting 20 second segement at the following link: June 27, 2024 StacksBowers Auction

The video oddly is not a copy of the webcast.  The webcast itself shows the item being auction on the bottom 2/3rds of the screen, 'auction man' is shown above it, and the bid button is on the upper left corner of the screen.  The amount bid is clearly seen, but interesting how the total price (which includes the buyer's premium) is in a pink-ish text color on a red background.  Well played Stacks, well played.

Above is a screeenshot example of what I just described.  It looks like you really get hammered if you buy something cheap. A $20 item coming to $65 after a Buyer's Premium (I assume at the lower end it is just some fixed amount).  In this particular case it came to a premium of 225%.  Plus $12 shipping ($50 if you are outside the US), and any state sales tax.  Ouch.

Going forward...

There really are limited choices on selling a matched pair, or anything numismatic in general.  Whether you choose an auction house, eBay, or even a local coin dealer (who may or may not even be aware of the 2013B error), each seem to have their strengths and weaknesses.  With that in mind, I have decided to go forward with offering a 'Buy and Sell' section on this website. The fee will be competitive and address some of the weaknesses of 'the other guys', so stay tuned for a future announcement.  I am currently testing the mechanics of it before it is launched.

Cash or this?

A feature where I show some of the crazy stuff you could buy on Amazon if you went on to sell your matched pair for a few thousand or so...

How about a...

Next move:  Pawn to shag-floor.

Not sure what inspired this product.  Maybe it is for people like me that spent too much time at work sitting;  standing is apparently better for your back, although my favorite activities seem to involve sitting.  You can get this combination physical + mental challenge here --> https://amzn.to/4eIOWSA
