WHY THE MASTER LIST IS NO LONGER PUBLICLY VIEWABLE.

Shocked? You shouldn't be. |
Submitting your serial number to Project 2013B is the most effective and secure way to complete your valuable matched pair. No other website or group can match our proven track record for detecting and uniting the owners of these rare matched pairs. As of September, 2025 we have confirmed over 190 pairs.
I now keep the master list of submitted serial numbers (the project database) private for your security and to significantly increase your chances of finding a match, as I will discuss below.
Why The Switch to a Private List
1. Increased Matching Success 📈
Since removing the public list, the overall volume of submissions has gone up significantly. More submissions mean a greater chance that the other half of your duplicate note is already in our database or will be submitted soon.
A public list created a paradox: two collectors, each holding a half of the same matched pair, might spend years waiting for the other to submit. Since neither submitted, the serial numbers would never appear on the list, and the match would never be made. By submitting your number now, you break this deadlock and allow us to actively connect you.
2. Reducing Scams and Protecting Integrity 🛡️
The original public list, which was a viewable PDF of serial numbers with contact information omitted for privacy, was unfortunately exploited by scammers.
These individuals would:
Falsely register a common Washington D.C. note as a Fort Worth note using a serial number from the public list.
List the D.C. note on auction sites at inflated prices, leading buyers to believe they were purchasing a match for a note on the official list.
The buyer would then submit their note, triggering a "match." When we attempted to verify the scammer's submission (a required step before sharing contact info), they would fail to respond.
By keeping the list private, we eliminate this scam vector entirely, protecting collectors and maintaining the integrity of the project. To safeguard our participants, we maintain a private list of both known and suspected scammers.
If a serial number belonging to a suspected scammer triggers a match, we first contact the flagged individual to verify their note with photo-proof. This crucial step prevents disappointment and avoids wasting the time of the legitimate submitter.
3. Better Accuracy and Timeliness ✅
Serial numbers on the public list were never 100% reliable due to common errors:
Snapshot in time: The last public list was over 1000 pages long, and was often too big for mobile phones to handle. It was time consuming to create, and would often be 3 or more weeks out of date.
Typos: Owners often submitted numbers with typos, or incorrectly identify their Fort Worth note as a Washington D.C. note (or vice versa).
Unreported Sales: Owners often sell their notes without notifying the project, meaning a "match" detected was already invalid.
Purges: As the list matured, the serial numbers inherited from the Zegers-Winograd Project were purged in cases where those members did not supply contact info to Project 2013B.
Random Occurances: I have been contacted twice by people who submitted their serial numbers, only to lose those bills in a house fire. Similarly, there are at least 2 people who had their bills stolen in a home burglary. Those serial numbers reported stolen have been tagged in the database.
Ongoing Maintenance: The submission form weeds out many invalid submissions, but the database is constantly checked for duplicate entries of the same Fort Worth note with the same serial number but has 2 different owners. The same goes for the Washington D.C. notes.
Now, once your serial numbers are accepted, there is no need to 'check or request a master list'. We handle all verification internally, and you will be contacted immediately as soon as a match is detected. That is the entire purpose of this project—let me do the work for you!
Your next step is simple: Submit your serial number! You'll be notified within 24 hours of a newly detected matched pair.
For those curious to know which of their serial number submissions were accepted and are currently in the database, you can request a report at report.2013b.com
4. Avoiding Unreliable Copycats and Invalid Data ⚠️
Our project's core database, which holds all submitted serial numbers and, crucially, your contact information, is SECURE. To guarantee security against unauthorized access or malicious individuals, it is not hosted online and remains strictly private. As of September 2025, our verified database holds over 80,000 unique serial numbers, each linked to a valid contact.
In contrast, the imitation site relies on an outdated February 2024 list of 47,066 entries and lacks all contact information, making actual matches impossible. In a documented case, the imitation site failed to connect the matching parties because it only had contact information for one of the two note owners. The one owner was then directed to register their note on our official site to complete the match, which requires both owners to submit photo-proof of their banknote before contact information is shared.
Once a match is confirmed, my work doesn't stop there. Since many people I connect are not experienced collectors, I provide comprehensive guidance. I outline various options for how to proceed with the matched pair, explain potential pitfalls for each choice, and clarify the expected fees associated with grading companies and auction houses.
Furthermore, we rigorously validate all submissions, checking for consistency across the plate numbers, serial number, and series to ensure the note is a legitimate 2013B star note from the correct range. Currently, between 5% and 40% of daily submissions require correction or are deemed outright invalid. Our visit to the copycat site shows records with frequent inaccuracies, and inconsistencies that fail even a basic verification check.
5. Help Keep the Database Accurate ✅
The project relies on you to help maintain the accuracy of your serial numbers and contact information. You can verify your own submissions for errors and completeness at any time by requesting your personal report. Simply go to report.2013b.com and fill out the short form. The system will email you a list of all serial numbers currently associated with your email address within 24–48 hours. Reviewing this list is the best way to catch typos and ensure your notes are correctly logged and ready for matching.
Keep your contact information current to ensure you don't miss a match! If your email address changes, please update it by going to change.2013b.com. We also strongly encourage anyone who submitted serial numbers years ago, to add a mobile number for texting. Our success rate for connecting owners with a text number on file is significantly higher than for those we only have an email for. The form for adding your texting number is also at change.2013b.com.
