Shocked? You shouldn't be. |
The master list of serial numbers (often confused with the project’s database) was intended for people to verify their submissions. Unfortunately, some individuals have exploited it for scams or personal gain. Maintaining this list takes at least 15+ hours a week, even during slow periods. Of all new submissions, 10-30% of submissions are invalid and must be discarded. Dozens of emails are answered each week, and when time allows, I promote this website all over the internet.
When the list was initially pulled from public view, I created an online webpage for easy verification of submissions. The link is clearly shown once you haven pressed SUBMIT on the submission form. Once your serial numbers are accepted, there is no need to check the master list. You will be contacted as soon as a match is detected.
In February 2024, I stopped updating the online PDF list. The database itself (which contains both the list of serial numbers and the private contact information for each serial number's owner) is updated DAILY. Since last February, only one person even inquired about the next update of the serial number list. Most visitors use mobile phones, which typically struggle with a 1200+ page PDF file. Generating such a large file was also time-consuming.
This project continues the original Zegers-Winograd Project. When the previous owner stepped down, no one volunteered to take over until I did. I’ve expanded the list from 10,000 serial numbers to over 50,000 serial numbers. The project has grown in popularity while gaining attention from major media outlets such as New York Post, Fox News, and even Women's World magazine.
Beware of a copy-cat website masquerading as the 2.0 version on this site. It boasts a list of 50,000 serial numbers, but that out-dated list came from this very website and it has NO contact information.
